Sweet Home Chicago

This past weekend I went back to the city I love and once called home...Chicago! Oh how I miss it! As much as I love being back in Michigan, I do miss Chicago. I love the hussle and bussle of the city, I love hearing people speak different languages while walking around the zoo and I love being able to try a new restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner (although I always end up sticking to my favorites)! One thing I miss most is being able to take a walk down Michigan Ave to Oak street beach, where I then stroll along the lake until I get to Lincoln Park and the zoo. Don't even get me started what I miss about the Lincoln Park neighborhood (mainly Molly's Cupcakes)!

The view of downtown from my old street

Now that I've got that out of the way, I loved being back in the city for the weekend. Friday we were Cubs fans for the day. We got some great seats right by the Cubs dugout in the 2nd row. We sat right behind Tom Ricketts, whose family recently purchased the Cubs from the Chicago Tribune.

Friday morning we ate at an amazing breakfast place, Orange Contemporary Brunch With a Peel. There was an Orange by my old apartment but it was always so lined up on the weekends I never got a chance to try it. I had the French Toast Kebob with some fresh squeezed pineapple-apple juice. We also had an order of fruishi, fresh fruit and sticky rice made to look like sushi...it was delicious!

French Toast Kebob: Coconut french toast with two skewers of coconut french toast, pineapple, strawberries, honey and a side of coconut mango salad.

Our trip wouldn't have been complete without a stop at Gino's for pizza, Wow Bao for some hot asian buns and last but not least Lincoln Park Zoo!
