Jar-O-Lanterns

My grandma showed me this craft in one of her magazines a while back and I decided to try it - especially since I had an extensive collection of jars I needed to get rid of. I always save my jars in hopes of putting them to use, and I finally did! The jars I used were spaghetti (certain spaghetti jars are actually mason jars, very cute!), peanut butter (natural peanut butter comes in glass jars), salsa and pickle jars. The bigger jar on the left is a pickle jar my grandma gave me so I could make one for her. I think the bigger the jar the better.

It's pretty simple and self explanatory, I modge podged orange tissue paper to the jars. I realized in my 2nd attempt at the jars its easier and looks better to cut strips of the tissue paper, and holding the jar upside down in your hand, stick them on at the top of the jar so they'll all meet up on the bottom (although you'll be holding the jar, so the top/bottom are kind of reversed). Set the jar to dry upside down, but don't forget to flip it over when you put the face on (rookie mistake on my part)!! Most websites suggested using construction paper for the face, but I used tissue paper, which was kind of hard to cut the faces out of. My jars sit on a shelf that has lights that shine down, but you can also put tea lights in them or line them in a window and put a string of Christmas lights in them (the website below has Christmas lights). I used raffia for the stems, but you could also use ribbon or green tissue paper. Ryan thought my pumpkins had "head dresses", so maybe the raffia wasn't a good call.
